Logitech Controller Driver Windows 10

Windows
  1. All Logitech mice, keyboards, webcams, headsets, presenters, and speakers are Windows® 10 certified (excludes Windows phones). Take advantage of new functions Get automatic software updates when you’re online.
  2. After you upgrade your computer to Windows 10, if your Logitech Game Controller Drivers are not working, you can fix the problem by updating the drivers. It is possible that your Game Controller driver is not compatible with the newer version of Windows.

*Original Title: Game controllers. I just bought a game controller so I can play my games with it. Brand new usb, it says just plug in and Windows would assign a driver automatically.

I purchased a Logitech Wireless Gamepad F710 that is supposed to work with Windows 10, and so far it does not.

Windows 10 detects it when I plug in its wireless receiver and turn it on; but in Windows Device Manager, the gamepad shows with a yellow caution icon and is said to not be working properly.

I have tried the gamepad's XInput and DirectInput modes and installed Logitech Gaming Software for it. In Device Manager, I have also tried:

  • Automatically updating the gamepad's driver: Device Manager indicates that it cannot find an appropriate driver for it.
  • Browsing to the folder under C:UsersJoeappdataLocalTemp extracted by Logitech Gaming Software's InstallShield installer to update the gamepad's driver, indicating that Device Manager should check subfolders for an appropriate driver too: Device Manager again indicates that it cannot find an appropriate driver.

From the research I did online, I was unable to find a solution either. Has someone on SU had this problem and found a way to resolve it?

After more digging, I learned in Logitech's support forums that others have this issue too, also that no one has a solution there either.

After even more digging, I found a fix, which I detailed there and below for completeness.

TheTexanGamer's Microsoft Community solution to a similar issue with an Xbox 360 wireless controller and Windows 10 seems to have resolved the problem for me: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/games_windows_10/xbox-360-wireless-controller-not-workingconnecting/b65687c2-f879-4a59-b074-248828e5d774?auth=1

I had to follow the steps outlined in TheTexanGamer's answer with the F710 in XInput mode:

Make sure your controller is turned off and the wireless receiver is plugged in to your PC before proceeding with the steps below:

  1. Press Windows key+X.
  2. Click 'Device Manager'.
  3. Find any listings of 'Unknown Device' in the list of devices, likely under Human Interface Devices or Other Devices. Make sure you right click it and select the 'Scan for hardware changes' and 'Update Driver Software' > 'Search Automatically for Updated Driver' options before the next steps, especially if you have more than one 'Unknown Device' listed.
  4. Right-click on 'Unknown Device' and click 'Update Driver Software'.
  5. Click the option 'Browse my computer for driver software'.
  6. Click the option 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'.
  7. Near the bottom of the list, select the option that looks something like 'Xbox 360 Peripherals' and click 'Next'.
  8. From the list, select the driver option 'Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows [2/15/2007]' and click 'Next'.
  9. A warning will appear about the possibility of the device or your computer not working properly and likelihood of system instability. Disregard it and click 'Yes' in the bottom right corner of the panel.
  10. A message should appear within a few seconds saying that the device has been correctly installed. Click 'Ok' and exit out of all device manager windows.

After performing these steps, do as I did and power on your controller....

Screenshots of the results I got follow.

  • The LT and RT buttons affecting Z Axis in the Game Controllers control panel? That does not seem right to me, but maybe I am mistaken.
  • DirectInput? The above solution did not work for me until I switched the gamepad to XInput mode.

- Does the controller show in Device Manager ?

Windows has XBOX drivers ( Xinput.dll ) and some generic ( Dinput.dll ) keyboard/mouse/controller drivers

which preceded the Xinput drivers.

Microsoft Controller Driver Windows 10

However, Dinput only, and controllers with both Dinput and Xinput need the profiling software from the mfg

of the device to get full functionality.

If your controller has a switch for Dinput and Xinput you may still need to install the

XBOX 360 Accessories v1.2 software (The Win7 software works on Win10).

Logitech Game Controller F310 Driver

[EDIT: ( 7/'17) Just to clarify... Win10 should automatically detect XInput peripherals, but in the event of a

peripheral not being detected, the Accessories Software 1.2 above should be installed.

Peripherals which are limited to, or have a Dinput option in addition to Xinput, do require a software to get the

custom button profiling options while using Dinput.

XBOX controllers do not have an option to customise button presses outside the options made available in

a games setup as do Dinput peripherals. ]

While your controller model is not very old ( 2014 release date, from what I can tell) they have it listed

as a Legacy product already (bottom of page). The driver they link to should still work with WIn10

(My Logitech G27 wheel (uses Dinput ) was released in '09 and while the LGS 510 software/drivers for their controllers/wheels has not been updated since around 2010 they still work on Win10 ) .

If this 3GCDriver does not include a profiling software it may be worth trying the Engine 3 software as well ?

- I also have a the Logitech F310, which also uses the LGS 510 software. This controller has a switch for both

Xinput and Dinput, which makes the controller more flexible than an Xinput only controller as you

can create profiles to make it work with older games that don't have a default XBOX setup.
